The lymphatic system is composed of a vast network of interstitial channels that carry cellular waste from tissues and organs to the kidneys, skin, and bowels to be expelled from the body! It is the sewer system of the body that helps to keep it clean from acids and waste. The lymphatic system consists of a collection of lymphatic vessels connected to lymph nodes which filter lymph fluid that gets collected throughout the body. Lymph nodes filter lymph via specialized white blood cells that destroy and remove microorganisms, malignant cells, damaged cells, and foreign particles. The lymphatic vessels and lymph nodes, along with the thymus, tonsils, and spleen, serve a vital function for the removal of interstitial fluid from tissue and development and maintenance of the immune response. Lymph fluid ultimately returns to the venous circulation. Lymph nodes are located all throughout the body, primarily located in six major spots throughout the body; above your collar bones, behind your jawline under your ears, in your armpit where your arm meets your torso, your stomach, groin area and behind your knees. These spots are referred to as “The Big Six”.

Since the lymphatic system cleans the body from acidosis and toxicity, it is also part of our immune system. It is responsible for the production of white blood cells that produce antibodies that keep us protected against pathogens and infection.

A properly functioning lymphatic system can clean, carry and expel cell waste from the body efficiently through a healthy lifestyle and the optimal functioning of all the elimination organs, especially the kidneys, which excrete cellular waste (the lymph fluid) out of the body. The kidneys, on the other hand, work with the interstitial waste system – the lymph system – to purge toxins out of the body through urine.

If we are not properly opening up our lymphatic drainage points and moving our bodies in a way that helps drain this waste, it can stagnate the lymphatic system, which becomes overwhelmed by waste. The lymphatic system does not have a natural pump and requires movement for its circulation.

Red clover is primarily used as a depurative or detoxifying herb. It assists the body in removing waste products and toxins from the body’s fluids and tissues. They are excellent lymph movers and helpful as blood purifiers.

Burdock root is a wonderful lymphatic system strengthener that helps promote lymphatic drainage. It can purify the blood and improve the function of the lymphatic system, which enables it to alkalize the body and promote its self-healing capacity. It is also a diuretic that stimulates kidney detoxification and eliminates excess water and sodium. It blends well with dandelion and ginger roots. It's gentle and one of the most well tolerated lymph moving herbs.

Stinging nettle works to flush the body out of toxic compounds and improves overall organ function. It also stimulates the lymphatic system, the liver, and the kidneys in order to strengthen vital detoxification pathways and eliminate waste from the body.

Echinacea is the ideal diuretic and laxative that helps to cleanse the blood and the lymphatic system. It promotes the flow of lymph to address swollen lymphatic glands. Echinacea should be avoided if you have autoimmune disorders.

Dandelion is known as one of the most effective kidney and liver detoxifiers in nature and is a powerful lymphatic system cleaner.

Calendula moves stagnant lymph material, especially in the groin and under armpits.

Chickweed acts to move water out of the lymph tissue and softens hard lymphatic nodules.

Self Heal (Heal-All) is a lymphagogue and clears swollen glands.

Cleavers is a lymph mover and detoxifier.

Ginger Root is an all in one herb that is helpful for the immune system, gut, lymphatics, circulation. The lymphatic, digestive and immune systems are intimately connected. Ginger is known to decrease inflammation, boost detoxification, and increase circulation with its warming carminative properties

These herbs are very multi-dimensional, helping several different systems at the same time.

Included in this Lymph Love offering is a breastfeeding safe blend and a non-breastfeeding safe blend. The breastfeeding safe blend tastes better than the non-breastfeeding safe blend so if you’d rather drink a more enjoyable tea that has a much more gracious flavor profile, the breastfeeding safe blend is for you. It is more mild in its effects but it can be taken even if you are not breastfeeding. The non-breastfeeding safe blend does not have an enjoyable flavor but it is more potent and powerful in the herb choices. Adding raw honey can help mask the bitter flavor.
